Ecogate ... taking full control

  • Expert advice and dedicated environmental funding scheme pave the way for costly energy-saving upgrade
  • Investment in controller system and

W.J. White Ltd. produces wooden furniture using dust-control machines that ran at full speed regardless of the working conditions. The owner was introduced to an energy saving specialist who recommended installing a smart control system, called Ecogate greenBOX12+.

Using this system, the machines could automatically adjust when not being used or operate at lower speeds according to the demands placed on them. To help finance this costly sustainability measure, the company turned to the EEF financing scheme. The EEF is a joint initiative between the Carbon Trust and Siemens Financial Services Ltd.

Key result

EEF sent their expert to evaluate the environmental benefits of the proposed measure which unlocked financing to cover the investment based on the anticipated energy savings. The company was given the green light and backing to invest in £ 43 000 (~€ 48 500) in the Ecogate system, which is expected to be recuperated thanks to energy savings within 3.5 years.
