Dozens of business and academic representatives participated in a webinar under the motto "The Green Transformation of the ICT Sector in Burgas Region".

The online event took place within the framework of the ICT Greening Up Initiative project, funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism (Norway Grants) 2014-2021, program "Business Development, Innovation and Small and Medium Enterprises ".

The project is implemented by the ICT Cluster - Burgas in partnership with the  ProspectiM Association".

"The topic of the Green transition and transformation of the ICT sector is important and topical, directly related to the circular economy and the future of the cohesion policy between cities and regions. It is an indisputable fact that municipalities are the engine of the Green Transition, from investments in places, through the services they provide, to the change in people's behavior and mentality by supporting the acquisition of new skills, etc." This is how the Chairman of the Municipal Council - Burgas Prof. Dr. Sevdalina Turmanova addressed the participants.

The webinar was moderated by Atanaska Nikolova, a member of the Board of Directors of the "ProspectiM" Association, who is personally involved in the topic of the green transformation of society and the implementation of a fair transition to a low-carbon, resource-efficient economy.

Petko Georgiev, chairman of "ICT Cluster Burgas", presented the ICT Greening Up Initiative project to the audience, and the cluster established itself as an engine of green transformation in the sector.

Ivelina Vasileva, member of the board of the Mission to the European Commission for the protection of oceans, seas and waters, talked about the  Green transformation in a European and national context.

Vasileva, who also has experience as Minister of Environment and Water, explained why the Green Deal is the EU's answer to the climate crisis.

Mariela Garkova from Burgas Municipality presented the impressive Green policies in the maritime municipality.

Ivelina Strateva, Director of the Directorate "Economy and Business Activities" in the Municipality of Burgas, told how the local administration supports sustainable business.

Alexander Milev, Executive Director of Proxiad SEE, presented the topic "Key activities for greener ICT", telling how the company has taken real actions to protect the environment.

At the end Ruska Boyadzhieva, Chairman of the Board of the Association "ProspectiM", introduced the audience to the Greening Up Pledge document.
