Description of measure

The core goal of the TSP is to contribute towards improving the competitiveness of industry through the application of specialised knowledge and technology; and facilitating the interaction between industry, (especially SMEs) and academia in order to enable innovation. There are 18 Technology Stations in South Africa at the Technology Innovation Agency office. The main beneficiaries are industry, particularly SMEs and Higher Education Institution. The concrete activities of the Technology Stations are providing: testing and analytical services. Rapid prototyping and manufacturing. Consultation, technology audit and feasibility Study. Process or product improvement. Applied development, engineering and design. Research and development. Technology demonstrations and Trainings. The main success factor of Technology Stations' activities is offering an opportunity to bridge the gap between local suppliers and industry to take advantage of the recapitalization and expansion programmes by enhancing competitiveness of local suppliers through technology improvement.
