Description of measure

Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) helps Canadian companies develop and deploy competitive, clean technology solutions, to solve some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges: climate change, clean air, clean water and clean soil. SDTC does this through funding, knowledge and ecosystem connectivity. As an independent federal foundation and flagship program, SDTC funding of Canadian entrepreneurs has created jobs, growth and long-term prosperity. Since its inception, SDTC has invested over CAD 1.3 million (EUR 1.1 million) in 450 companies, creating 14,600 jobs. SDTC's companies have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 19.3 megatons annually, that is equivalent to taking almost 6 million cars off the roads every year. The main success factor of this measure is the cross-Canadian approach, in partnership with experienced peers and experts. This measure does not directly target clusters but has the potential to facilitate their set-up and development.
