Since its foundation in 2010, Nanoprogress has focused mainly on promoting cutting-edge research and development in nanotechnology, building international links, and developing internationalization activities. Our other strategic areas of focus are the development of unique technological devices for the preparation of nanofibrous structures and research of their application potential in a range of industries. Nanoprogress has been working with leading industry experts on these activities throughout its existence.

In 2014, a breakthrough discovery saw the light of day - technology using alternating electric fields to produce nanofibers. A year later, Nanoprogress members designed and constructed the world's first unique laboratory equipment for the preparation of nanofibrous structures using this technology. All research and development work related to the construction and design of this equipment was co-funded by the "Cooperation - Clusters" program, which was sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In the following years, Nanoprogress expanded its innovation activities to include the development of materials for the preparation of nanofibers and research of the application potential of these structures for a wide range of industries.

In 2017, Nanoprogress began building an in-house research team focused purely on the preparation and production of nanofibrous structures and the identification of the technology's weaknesses. Subsequently, thanks to this experience, the internal team of the Nanoprogress cluster has started its own technological development in collaboration with its industrial partners. These activities also played pivotal role for the development of various regions of the Czech Republic.

In the middle of this year, another worldwide unique discovery - equipment for the preparation of pure nanofibrous yarns was officially handed over, including a technological upgrade of the existing spinning equipment for the preparation of nanofibrous structures. The equipment was realized within the project cooperation with the Technical University of Liberec by multi-faculty teams of Prof. Ing. Jaroslav Beran, CSc. and Prof. RNDr. David Lukáš, CSc. It is the first semi-operational line for the preparation of pure nanofibrous yarn in the world. Its uniqueness lies in its production capacity, which is up to four times faster than existing technological solutions. The application of the line is seen primarily for the preparation of sophisticated structures for variety of medical and technical purposes.
