Soldering made easy

The German company EUROMAT GmbH develops solutions for the metal industry with innovative material and surface finishing technology. In the soldering process, for example, industry normally uses soldering paste which requires chemical cleaning after welding and this can complicate the automated processes. Meanwhile, soldering by hand increases reject rates, which adds to material costs.

EUROMAT developed a new technique to produce solid pre-forms for soldering. Normally they are stamped out of metal tape, but they cast different soldering powders into the pre-forms. This cuts down on reject material and paves the way for compositions that don't exist as metal foils or tapes.

Key benefits

The new process technique has two major advantages.

Firstly, it does away with soldering paste, which eliminates the need for chemical cleaning and degreasing of welding sites, and this in turn reduces the cost of disposal.

Secondly, the pre-forms mean the soldering process can be better automated, which increases the process reliability and decreases the lead time.
