Last month, the European Investment Bank and the European Patent Office published a new report on 'Deep tech innovation in smart connected technologies'.

Drawing attention to the advances that are steering the fourth industrial revolution, such as the internet of things, cloud computing, and 5G technology, the report analyses Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) that are developing these technologies. Furthermore, the report highlights the obstacles that those firms may face in the development of fourth industrial technologies, and gives recommendations for policy makers.
