Imagen training programme SCALE-UP 3

Description

The European project SCALE-UP, of which CTA is a partner, has opened its free online training programme to boost bioeconomy knowledge in society. With the aim of promoting the sustainable use of resources and highlighting their importance in the regional economy, this educational programme will cover seven key topics related to the bioeconomy over 21 webinars.

Each of the chosen topics will be covered in three events, which will feature expert presentations, time for discussion and networking opportunities for participants. The sessions will be conducted in English, but will use an AI-based online translator to translate the content in different languages. The first session will start on 7 September 2023, and the programme will run until the end of 2024.

On this occasion, topic 3 is being adressed, with the title 'Digitalisation in the Bioeconomy: potentials for rural actors'. Digitalization and new technologies open new doors for the use of biomass as an alternative to fossil-based resources. The understanding and knowledge of ecosystems and natural resources can be increased a lot by the amount of new possibilities on how to collect and manage data.

The days, topics to be discussed and registration links are as follows:

- 16 January. 'Monitoring and sensorization of the bioeconomy with digital technologies'. Digital technologies applied to bioeconomy can enhance productivity, efficiency, and sustainability, contributing to the development of innovative bio based products and solutions. Internet of Things and space technologies applied for monitoring and sensorisation can contribute to more precise mapping, tracing and measuring of biomass streams to further transform them into new business and innovation opportunities. For the session, please register HERE.

- 6 February. 'Elevating bioeconomy: harnessing AI systems and drones for cutting edge innovation'. Artificial intelligence can be used to analyse huge datasets to identify patterns, predict outcomes, and generate insights to accelerate R&D processes, while drones provide various possibilities in agriculture and forestry like remote sensing, diversification of agriculture produce, while reducing the environmental impact. - 27 February. 'Safeguarding progress: critical emphasis on cyber security and data protection in advancing the bioeconomy'. Data protection and cybersecurity are critical considerations in the bioeconomy due to the sensitive nature of the data involved. Although collaboration and data sharing are essential in the bioeconomy for collective advancements, secure data sharing is crucial to prevent disruption of operations, compromising of systems or stealing sensitive data. For the session, please register HERE.
