Seal of approval

  • Trademarked sealing technology proves its worth on potato product lines
  • Improves output speed and quality, reduces costs and associated production and food waste

McCain Foods Ltd. in the UK has adopted Integrity Seal™ for its range of frozen chips and specialty potato products to enable them to significantly reduce packaging usage and cost. It is an innovative sealing technology for flexible packaging that could save food manufacturers thousands of tonnes of film per year, while also providing greater seal integrity.

The unique design of Integrity Seal has delivered substantial machine-performance benefits that improve productivity by reducing operating and engineering maintenance downtime, reducing consumables, and extending time between film and reel changes.

Key benefits

Using this new technology:

  • Reduces packaging material use
  • Improves product quality
  • Improves operational efficiency and lowers manufacturing costs
  • Delivers longer shelf life to optimise production and distribution logistics
  • Reduces food wastage

Significant increases in throughput have also been realised because the improved seal quality has reduced re-work, which delivers further savings on films. Some applications of the system run 10-15 % faster than conventional seals, provided the product feed is smooth and there are no additional handling problems.
