Description of measure

In order to achieve net zero GHG emissions by 2050, the Japanese government has established several policies promoting this goal, including the set up of the 'Green Innovation Fund' which totals 2 trillion Yen (approx. EUR 15 billion). The government agency 'New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO)' manages the fund, thus serving as an 'innovation accelerator' which facilitates R&D and the utilitsation of new energy technologies. NEDO evaluates technical project proposals and provides support in project planning and management. The aim of this measure is to enable NEDO to promote the commercialisation and value chains of new green technologies.
