CYENS Centre of Excellence (former RISE), a Research Centre in Cyprus supported by the European Commission, the Republic of Cyprus and other strategic stakeholders is focusing on Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging technologies. In 2019 the CYENS invited local companies, research originations and other stakeholders to the Games Cluster Initiative. The games industry is growing rapidly whilst academic research and innovation are flourishing in this area. The objective is to develop an innovative cluster of interconnected local companies, research institutions and other stakeholders to foster innovation, competitiveness and economic growth in this area. No budget for beneficiaries has been announced. The policy action has limited coverage, but it supports an emerging economic segment that could improve competitiveness, job creation and innovation.
