The Galician Automotive and Mobility Sector closed the 2023 financial year with good results, reaching record turnover and exports, which consolidates this industry as a powerful economic engine of the region.

In this way, the turnover of the companies amounted to 13,000 million euros, 12% more than the previous year. Exports of the Sector also marked its best ever figure, with 9,400 million euros, which represents an increase of 14% compared to 2022. This figure is equivalent to 31.3% of Galicia's total exports.

Sales of components abroad grew more than the Sector as a whole, specifically by 18%, reaching 2,050 million euros, consolidating the supplier industry as a powerful export engine. The main products or services abroad were mainly destined for countries such as France, Portugal, Poland, Germany, Argentina, Italy, Morocco, the United Kingdom, Sweden and the USA.

In terms of employment, the automotive and mobility industry also increased its number of employees last year by 7%, with 24,800 direct jobs (as of 31 December), equivalent to 14.8% of industrial employment in our region.

However, in the current context of uncertainty in the sector, due to the impact of electrification, new regulations, competition from low-cost countries, the wait for the Perte Vec resolution and the difficulties that many of the companies in the cluster are experiencing, the companies have slightly reduced their investment figures to 132 million euros.

Despite all this, the Galician automotive industry, which manufactured 22% of the vehicles produced in Spain in 2023, continues to lead the national production ranking, thanks to Stellantis Vigo which, for yet another year, is once again the most productive car factory.
