PIMAP4Sustainability is happy to present the innovation project VIKInG, issued from the collaboration between Introsys – integration of robotic systems, Portugal and E.CIMA, Spain
The project VIKInG aims at developing a prototype system for quality assurance towards zero-defect in the knitting fabric industry. The activities are in line with the use of photonics and advanced manufacturing for industrial production. The consortium comprises a technology provider – Introsys, which will further develop its quality inspection system for textiles and fabrics and an end user – E.Cima, which will test and validate the prototype in a production environment. The specific use case targets the 100% measurement of warp knitting fabric quality, by detecting the defects at the time they are produced and stop recurrent defects. This leads to the reduction of defective textiles close to 0%, with evident economic and environmental benefits.
