EU-Conference - EN.v1

Description

Due to climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic, mining and related industries are changing rapidly. There is a need for sustainable production and more resilient supply chains.

Mining is a key sector in Latin American economies, delivering revenue for public investment in sustainable development. However, the mining industry needs to reduce its impact on ecosystems and communities and adopt more sustainable practices.

By working together, the EU and Latin America can overcome challenges through sustainable, integrated value chains, creating a green recovery and a just transition.

In this context, the EU-Latin America Convention on Raw Materials on 25-26 November will focus on insights on sustainability in minerals-based value chains.

Organised in the framework of the EU-Latin American Partnership on Raw Materials, this event brings together the mineral raw materials community including policymakers, industry, the private sector, and researchers in the EU and Latin America. It seeks to promote cooperation and knowledge exchange.

Starting with a high-level political event, the Conference will also offer a programme of key thematic sessions. Networking opportunities including a virtual poster session will be organised to facilitate exchanges between participants.

Simultaneous interpretation for participants in English, Spanish and Portuguese will be available on both days except for the networking event. The event is free.
