Get the specs right from the outset... and save!

  • Assumptions about materials and processes can lead to over-specification and end up costing more
  • Matching real requirements to specifications can save significant raw materials and associated costs

Bradagh Interiors knew that tailoring the type of wall framing stud used to suit the needs of a specific job could result in significant savings through reduced waste tonnages and material costs.

A review by Resource Efficient Scotland confirmed that certain stud types recommended by design teams for vertical support were over-specified on some projects. Even the smallest over-specification can potentially generate excess waste and increase material and labour costs associated with measuring and cutting processes, as well as waste-material handling costs.

Early engagement with design teams to determine actual requirements relating to the walls being built would enable bespoke stud specifications to be created.

Key benefits

Changes to stud specifications and ordering processes offer Bradagh Interiors various benefits:

  • Savings of over € 570 000 per year
  • Reduced raw materials used by 170 tonnes per year
  • Reduced waste by 25 tonnes per year
  • Emissions reduction of around 500 tonnes of CO2 equivalents each year
