Thinking social, thinking green...

  • Hotel achieved € 4 500 savings after CSR measures implemented
  • Efforts appreciated by staff and guests alike

The Forum Hotel in Sofia is a luxury four-star property in operations since 2003 following the renovation of a former hotel. In recent years, greater emphasis in the hotel has been placed on improving its corporate social responsibility (CSR) by investing in its workforce and more socially responsible practices reflecting the environment and surrounding community.

To start the process, data about health and safety, staff, clients and stakeholders was gathered. Bearing in mind employee satisfaction, stakeholder needs and key performance indicators, a strategic plan of appropriate measures was developed and implemented.

Key results

Following the audit and analysis of what was needed, the following actions were taken:

  • Staff team-building exercises were organised and internal communication improved
  • Use of energy-saving lighting
  • Programme of switching off minibars when not used
  • The hotel's environmental policy was actively applied
