The CEPM has been developed by the French Standardisation Association (AFNOR). Its objective is to help companies to grasp the circular economy concept and implement circular economy projects. The main beneficiaries are companies, who can purchase it for around EUR 260. The document proposes a 3 x 7 matrix covering 3 dimensions of sustainable development (environment, economy, society) and 7 areas of action of the circular economy. The main success factor is the collaborative approach followed by the working group composed of 50 stakeholders (associations, companies, policymakers, clusters). The International organisation for Standardization has approved the creation of a technical committee on the subject (ISO TC 323), under French leadership, to develop an international standard, which represents for France an opportunity to lead a strategic issue.
