New EASA regulation for Remotely Piloted Aircraft System

Distretto Tecnologico Aerospaziale (DTA) and ENAC agreed to collaborate in defining and deploying common actions to support experimental and operational activities with Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems operated from Grottaglie airport, acknowledged as the Italian flight test bed, as well as the collecting of knowledge items from such initiatives to verify and validate flight regulations.

DTA leads, participates in and is preparing, several national and European research and innovation projects that design experimentations of RPAS operations exploiting the Grottaglie Airport Test Bed. Among the running projects: RPASinAir (https://www.dtascarl.org/en/progettidta/rpasinair/) and CRUISE (https://www.dtascarl.org/en/progettidta/cruise/); projects in launching phase: ECARO (https://www.dtascarl.org/en/progettidta/ecaro/) and SAPERE.

In this framework DTA and ENAC organized a workshop to present new EASA regulation about RPAS operations and related process to obtain permission to fly and other certifications to operate experimental operations.

Workshop will be held next 14th May 2019, 10.00-14.00, in DTA premises Cittadella della Ricerca, S.S. 7 Appia, km.706+030, 72100, Brindisi (Italy).

During the workshop the following themes will be discussed:

  • Development of the Grottaglie Airport Test Bed and planned activities
  • New EASA regulation for RPAS
  • Proposal for the issuing and management of permit to fly and certification
  • Segregable air space and their development

New EAS regulation and related implementing ENAC actions will be presented by Eng. Sebastiano Veccia (ENAC).
