CEAGA has organized three strategic reflection workshops to lay out the foundations for the automotive industry of the future. These meetings dealt with crucial issues to improve the competitiveness of the Galician industry and were attended by more than one hundred executives from the Sector of 75 different companies.

Yesterday the third workshop ended, in which the participants addressed a critical issue for the Sector: the future of the value chain in the face of new mobility scenarios. In this meeting on ”The vehicle of the future” attendees reflected on the changes that are taking place in the concept of vehicle and deepened the new mobility, with the aim of helping managers to anticipate the implications of the new scenarios, both for their companies and for the Galician industry in general.

The workshop was closed by Ignacio Bueno, Director of the Vigo Center of Groupe PSA and Vice President of CEAGA, who affirmed that “we live a moment of deep transformation of the automotive industry that demands a rapid adaptation of our factories to respond to new forms of mobility. With agility, flexibility and efficiency, we must respond to the expectations of new customers, who expect very advanced products to meet their needs in a digitalized world and committed to respecting the environment. Sharing our knowledge, within the framework of sectoral cooperation, helps us identify and meet the challenges in this new scenario”.

The previous meetings, held in October, focused on two crucial areas for the competitiveness of the Sector: the integration of the value chain (in particular, between Tier 1 and its suppliers) and the Digital Transformation of the industry.

The main conclusions obtained in these workshops are framed in three areas of action: the definition of the new roadmap of the Sector, the new skills required in the workers of the future and the financing to promote digital transformation.

To face these challenges for the future, the Sector must take advantage of the experience of all these years of cooperation and strengthen its fundamental strengths: a shared sector objective based on a strong culture of collaboration; the learning obtained in the deployment of Lean Manufacturing carried out in the last ten years and the weight of the automotive sector in the region.
