During 2020 the Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster grew by 23 new members to 170

Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster (CEEC) closed the year 2020 demonstrating its ability to adapt to the health crisis by offering new services to its members. A total of nine projects were presented by the Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster, in which more than 30 partners participated at: an European project (EDIFICAT), three AEI projects (Agrupaciones Empresariales Innovadoras), three IRC projects (ACCIÓ), Shared Value Project and another project about Digitalisation of the energy sector. The total value of these projects rises up to 1.2 MM euros.

In addition, the Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster, has expanded its memebership. A total of 23 new organizations joined the organization, which its value chain has also grew. The las members are: TANDEM HSE, NEXUS, SISCAL, MJ Ventures, 2Gsolutions, Cerveró Associats, Vicae Energy Efficiency, Serenovables, ITALTEL, Place to Plug, Maichinery, Solit Energia, MEC SL, Menapy, Fluidra, ICDQ, Caixa d'Enginyers, Starke Energy, SOFOS Energia, La Salle, Alterna Energia, Solideo and Mantise.

The working strategic areas of the Catalan Efficient Energy Cluster that have grown the most due to the new partnerships are renewable energy and self-consumption and digitalization of energy.

As for the events, the Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster organized and participated in more than ninety. More than 6,000 people attended the conferences.

EFFICENT REACTION IN FRONT COVID-19

At the beginning of the pandemic, the Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster demonstrated its focus on customers by dealing with the situation and adapting by offering new services to its partners. From the first week of the declaration of the ‘State of alarm’ the Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster has been working on new activities that were launched immediately from the confinement.

ACTIONS CARRIED OUT

The Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster virtualized all the actions planned in the ‘Annual program’ (drawn up before the WHO declared the pandemic) like the Innovation Day Energy. The Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster promoted three cycles of intercluster webinars entitled ‘Tools to deal with the impact of Covid-19 on your company’ and ‘Strategies for facing the future’. These online events responded to funding concerns, legal and regulatory, labour, how to telework, mental health, among others.

Regarding the uncertainty of the energy sector, the Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster promoted a cycle of 'Cafès CEEC' which established a dialogue between attendees and personalities such as Manel Torrent, General Director of Energy, Industrial Safety and Mining Safety of the Department of Business and Knowledge and director of the Catalan Energy Institute (ICAEN), Joan Groizard, general director of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDEA, Spanish Government), Matilde Villarroya, General Director of Industry, Anna Gener, President and CEO of Aguirre Newman Barcelona, ​​Jordi Oliver, Executive Director of Inèdit, Janet Sanz, Deputy Mayor for Ecology, Urbanism, Infrastructure and Mobility of Barcelona, Mercè Conesa, President of the Port of Barcelona (Barcelona’s harbor), ​​Josep Comajuncosa, economist and professor at Esade, Ricard Font, president of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), Pere Margalef, vice president of business development at FuelCell Energy and Mercè Rius, general director of Quality Environmental and Climate Change of the Catalan Government.

Networking was reinvented among partners and other companies in other sectors such as food, packaging and wine through conferences such as the Strategic Immersion 2020, which was virtual and which had more than four hundred attendees and companies such as Coca-Cola, Danone, Gallina Blanca and Comexi among others. Networking between the Cluster’s partners was also promoted through the ‘Who Is Who CEEC’, in which more than twenty companies, entities and research centers took part.

The twelve working groups of the Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster continued their activity and three new ones were created: Formation, Financing and Photovoltaics.

In reference to participation, the partners increased their participation in the activities organised by the Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster. The Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster also took part at the Hydrogen Table, the Circular Economy Observatory, the Maritime Action Program and the Sustainable Mobility Hub of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.

As a result of the high pace of activities of the Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster, its media appearances increased up to 175, on Twitter followers increased to 4.8 thousand followers, on LinkedIn up to 2.5 thousand, on the web 22 thousand users visited it and subscribers to the newsletter increased to 3.1 thousand.
