Submitted by Petko Georgiev on 30 October 2020

  • BRAIT has fulfilled all requirements for joining the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation
  • Currently, the association represents companies that make up 8.7% of the Bulgarian economy and are responsible for 80% of the economic growth in 2019
  • In 2021 BRAIT members plan to make capital expenditures of over $30 billion worldwide, a considerable amount of which may be directed to innovating in Bulgaria

At a press conference held on 29th October 2020 in Sofia, the Bulgarian Employers' Association Innovative Technologies (BRAIT) presented the details around its application for the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation. BRAIT represents a significant part of the innovative companies in Bulgaria, many of which have not been represented in the dialogue between employers' organizations and the government so far. The new employers' association has already submitted all required documentation related to its application for membership in the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation (NCTC) and has proved national representation with over 70,000 employees in 24 economic sectors.

By amplifying the voice of the high-tech business BRAIT aims to contribute to the expert dialogue regarding the country's economic and social policy. The high-tech businesses are key to the future competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy, create products with significant added value and actively contribute to growth. In the view of the clusters and organizations that make up BRAIT, it is precisely at time of the current of global economic crisis that the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation needs to look at the opportunities offered to Bulgaria by modern and innovative businesses.

The inclusion of such innovative companies in the NCTC could significantly improve the business and entrepreneurship environment, signal that the country is open for dialogue in the context of the upcoming long-term financial framework 2021-2027, and put Bulgaria on the map when it comes to high technologies.

Petko Georgiev - Chairman of "Cluster Information and Communication Technologies - Burgas" introduced the activities of the Cluster. He said that as part of the Control Board of the Bulgarian Employers Association Innovative Technology (BRAIT) association has the opportunity to participate in making important decisions for the development of regional and sectoral policies and to position Burgas and the southeast region of the map of the European digital single market.
