EMFF launches two calls: One dedicated to the Atlantic ports of tomorrow and one to boost Maritime Spatial Planning
In line with the EU's Green Deal, the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) has launched two calls aimed at advancing clean, circular blue economy, preserving as well as protecting biodiversity and marine habitats.
Ports are hubs of maritime economic activity. To maintain such role, they must be sustainable and stay competitive. In this context, the call intends to boost entrepreneurship and foster a sustainable blue economy in the Atlantic area by increasing the competitiveness and resilience of Atlantic ports.
More specifically, the call aims at:
- Creating a network/partnership between at least two EU Atlantic ports in two different EU Member States; and
- Developing a blue accelerator scheme for Atlantic ports to stimulate innovative businesses to enhance a sustainable blue economy.
Applications can be submitted as of 9 June until 10 September.
2. EMFF-MSP-2020 - Maritime Spatial Planning Projects
Human activities at sea are taking up an increasing amount of space and exerting pressure on marine and coastal ecosystems. This makes it necessary to manage our Oceans and Seas in an integrated manner. This call intends to support Member States in setting up maritime spatial plans and ensuring that plans are coherent and coordinated across marine regions concerned.
The Maritime Spatial Planning call is divided into two distinct topics:
EMFF-MSP-01-2020: Reserved for applicants from at least two coastal Member States bordering the targeted sea basins/marine regions, i.e. the North Sea and/or the Baltic Sea.EMFF-MSP-02-2020: Reserved for applicants from at least one coastal Member State responsible for MSP in the concerned EU Outermost region(s). Applications can be submitted as of 9 June until 10 September.
