Online financing innovative clean tech conference

Submitted by Tedora Aibu on 10 September 2020

The European Commission has announced the launch of a virtual roundtable discussion on how the public and private sectors of production can jointly put forth the effort to deliver the European Green Deal. The discussion on how to repair the economic damage instigated by the COVID-19 outbreak and push towards becoming climate-neutral by 2050 will include financiers and industry representatives from the European Commission, European Investment Bank, Gates Ventures, CEFIC, Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, ABN AMRO, Chrysalix and EDP Renewables, among others. Approximately €10 billion support for the development of solutions to decarbonise Europe will come from the Innovation Fund in the 2020-2030 timeframe. However, the European Union cannot deliver this endeavour alone and will need to leverage public and private sources of funding to deliver the technological revolution that Europe needs.

As presented in the agenda for the conference, the discussion points for the speakers and participants are:

  • What makes an innovative clean tech project attractive for financiers?
  • How to balance profitability and innovativeness?
  • How to structure the financing of innovative clean tech projects?
  • What added value can the Innovation Fund bring to investors and project promoters?

The date has been set for the 25 September 2020, 09:30 - 12:15 CEST. Registration is now open and will close on 25 September 2020
