Ongoing international pledging event against COVID-19
The European Union and international partners are hosting an international pledging marathon which started on Monday 4 May 2020 and will run until the end of May 2020. The aim is to gather significant funding to ensure the collaborative development and universal deployment of diagnostics, treatments and vaccines against the Coronavirus.
This pledging event has already brought together more than 50 world leaders, CEO’s and representatives of international organisations with one goal to defeat COVID-19.
Together with these global partners the EU has pledged EUR 9.5 billion in initial funding to develop diagnostics, treatments and vaccines to fight the virus in every corner of the world. This figure is EUR 1.9 billion more than the targeted number.
On Thursday, 28 May 2020, another live event of the pledging marathon will be organised.
