Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) has commended the actions of CEN and CENELEC for adopting technical guidance for fabric masks and making it freely available. The close collaboration between CEN and CENELEC was consolidated at the start of 2010 by the creation of a common CEN-CENELEC Management Centre (CCMC) in Brussels. Together, CEN and CENELEC provide a platform for the development of European Standards and other technical specifications across a wide range of sectors. CEN and CENELEC work closely with the European Commission to ensure that standards correspond with any relevant EU legislation. CEN and CENELEC also cooperate with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) to reach agreements on common standards that can be applied throughout the whole world, thereby facilitating international trade. The CEN and CLC Boards agreed on 29 March 2017 (CEN/CA Decision 29/2017 and CENELEC/CA Decision 146/14) that CWAs in the R&D domain be made publically available on the CEN and CENELEC websites if a pre-payment is made as compensation for the possible loss of revenue to the CEN and CENELEC members.
