Call to clusters: Contribute your knowledge to the new EU Industrial Strategy

Submitted by Imogen Allan on 05 February 2021

The European Commission will update its EU Industrial Strategy, published in March 2020, with the help of the new Industrial Forum. The Industrial Forum is a new high-level expert group made up of representatives from Member States and stakeholders from industry, academia, civil society, trade unions and other organisations, which will provide the European Commission with advice on the implementation of industrial policies. Furthermore, it will support the Commission in its systematic analysis of the different industrial ecosystems. The European Clusters Alliance is among the members of this new expert group.

The Industrial Strategy proposes a set of actions to address the fundamental enabling conditions for the green and digital industrial transformations. These include achieving a deeper and more digital single market, improving competitiveness on a global scale, supporting industries towards climate neutrality, building a more circular economy, promoting industrial innovation, skilling and reskilling, and investing and financing the green and digital transition. The Industrial Forum has tasked the European Clusters Alliance with providing recommendations for the update of this strategy.

You can now participate in a survey from the European Clusters Alliance (deadline 15 February) and share your important lessons learned from the COVID-19 crisis relevant to Europe’s Industrial Strategy, as well as examples of how collaboration along the entire value chain has helped you to overcome challenges and which obstacles you are facing in the green and digital transition. These contributions are highly valuable for the update of the EU Industrial Strategy.

The European Clusters Alliance wants to include the cluster community in its response to the Industrial Forum and has created a survey directed at all European clusters. This is a call to action to the clusters: be active and contribute to the policymaking process. Please fill out the survey with your experiences and evidence. These contributions are vital for us to make the best possible recommendations to the Industrial Forum.

Access the survey here.
