Among the courses organized by the Economic Development New Zealand, the "Smart Specialisation and Cluster Development" free course scheduled for 7 May, 2020 will be delivered by Dr. David Wilson, the founder and Executive Director of Cities and Regions Ltd., a highly regarded practitioner and academic and Ifor Ffowcs-Williams, the CEO and founder of Cluster Navigators. In this forum Dr. David Wilson will introduce smart specialisation approaches and clusters as core frameworks for developing regions. Ifor Ffowcs-Williams will then draw on his practical cluster development experience in fifty countries, identifying success factors. Ifor will share how European clustering initiatives are providing a fast-track in responding to Covid-19. Prior to the course, participants will be asked to watch a short video introducing a smart specialisation example from Finland. This no-charge course provides an introduction to the World of Learning Cluster Development training that Ifor will shortly be offering. The course is directed at economic development staff, councillors, universities, polytechs and industry associations.
