Description

In order to take advantage of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)’s preferential tariff rates, EU traders need to comply with the CETA rules of origin when trading with Canada.

Background

The CETA programme is funded and led by the European Union and designed to support EU market access in Canada through sector guides, workshops, and webinars.

The CETA programme will be hosting a webinar on 8 February (16:00 CET), presented by Fredrik Beckvid Tranchell and Gary Wilkinson from the European Commission, to explain CETA and the rules of origin for EU businesses. The webinar will go over the requirements and processes for exporting to Canada under the CETA so that businesses can fully benefit from tariff reductions.

The topics covered will include:

  • How a product can be considered as originating from the EU/Canada
  • Registration in the REX system for EU companies
  • Origin declaration
  • Navigating through the Access2Markets and rules of origin self-assessment (ROSA) tool
