Generating new sOlutions 2 and from Space through effective local start-up HUBs
The objective of the EU-funded Go2Space-HUBs project is to secure the creation and up-scaling of European businesses, offering technology and services in and from the space sector, ensuring value creation and innovation through cross-fertilisation, training, and locally owned and driven networks and initiatives that connect effectively with existing EU initiatives.
This will be achieved through the creation of 3 new Space hubs in Coimbra, Madrid and Tallinn strengthening local entrepreneurship/ business ecosystems & networks. These HUBs have extensive experience in providing support to start-ups and will be supported by entities that are experts on investor readiness & access to finance services and technology transfer, in addition to an aerospace cluster representing SMEs from all the relevant space-segments. The 6 consortia partners represent key players in the local and regional start-up ecosystem.
The project includes a range of new local initiatives for entrepreneurs, start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs, building bridges to EU activities, and designed to secure the creation of new start-ups & to help start-ups and scale-ups grow.
- Incubation of 20 entrepreneurs/early stage start-ups

- Demo-Days to present their solutions to Investors and partners
- Innovations Days
- B2B events to facilitate spinning-in/-out
- Organization of 3 Hackathons
- Joint-applications to the Copernicus incubator
- An “Up-scaling engine” to help a range of local scale-ups and SMEs secure more efficient growth, introduction to existing space recourses
- Identifications of barriers to investments in space
- Targeted training on access to private and public finance & Final Investment & Partnering event with participants from all the 3 HUBs.
Go2Space-HUBs Open Call
The support and guidance you need to get your start-up/scale-up to the next level.
The Go2Space-HUBs project has just opened its call, which is targeted at entrepreneurs, start-ups and scale-ups that work in the Space Sector, in the following thematic areas:
‘Space-related projects for a digitalized Europe’ (e.g. big data, IoT, smart cities, smart transport)
‘Space-related projects and applications to solve the Sustainable Development Goals’ (e.g. low carbon future, social impact)
‘Space-related projects in Defence & Security’ (e.g. cyber, military, big data, fintech)
‘Spacetech Excellence’ (space upstream & downstream sector)
Twenty selected entrepreneurs or early stage start-ups will have the opportunity to join a one year incubation program aimed at growing their idea into a strong business in the space sector. And other twenty established start-ups or scale-ups will be involved in an intensive three-month acceleration program of online training and individual mentoring.
Moreover, the participants will attend networking activities with experts from government, industry, research and investment sectors, and participate in events on the space sector, where they will present their solutions to potential investors and find strategic partners to grow their business globally.
The Incubation Program
There will be two incubation programs: in the HUB Coimbra (Portugal) at Instituto Pedro Nunes and in the HUB Tallinn (Estonia) at Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol.
The Incubation Program offers an intensive training during one year and individualized coaching in prototyping, product development, business model, financing, product-market fit, sales and marketing, and investment readiness.
Each team is assigned a key coach, product development and marketing mentor, and best teams will receive external specialized services worth of 4000€ in each program and the possibility to take part to the Investment & Partnering European Event.
The Acceleration Program
A high impact program based in the HUB Madrid (Spain) at UC3M Science Park, where participants will receive, during three months, extensive online training and individualized mentoring in market and investment readiness, reinforcing technology base and reviewing operations management.
It will also include sessions for the knowledge, management and data processing of the Earth observation platform DIAS Environment, on European financing programs, including the SME Instrument that finances innovative projects and on the Technology Portfolio of the European Space Agency (ESA).
Go2Space-HUBs will also organize Hackathons and Demo Days, with 30.000€ in prizes, and the winners will take part to the final Investment & Partnering Event.
