Executive Summary  C3-Saxony build a platform for a sustainable business development accelerator, offering incubation services for innovation projects at the interface of microelectronics/ICT and life sciences with a focus on the sector of mobile services and personalised medicine.

Through workshops, business matchmaking events and support schemes, C3-Saxony provided an open space, where relevant stakeholders from both disciplines could meet and generate, refine and develop project ideas as well as find partners for the project realisation.

Participating in European matchmaking events and innovation fora offered possibilities for the project owners to communicate their ideas in a European environment and identify European partners for cooperation.

Workshops on idea generation and structuring were facilitated by the Technische Universität Dresden/Lab of Knowledge Architecture, while incubation services were implemented by the cluster partners Silicon Saxony, biosaxony and the innovation consultancy AGIL GmbH Leipzig.

In a second parallel activity, a structured policy dialogue and exchange with seven other European countries/regions took place – Rhône-Alpes (France), Flanders (Belgium), Catalonia (Spain), Madrid (Spain), Ireland, Lower and Upper Austria and Wallonia (Belgium). This aimed at identifying best practice models for innovation and growth supporting instruments with respect to emerging industries, clusters and cross-sectoral innovation.

This exchange has been established both at policy level and among cluster organisations.

Expected Results  These activities have (so far) resulted in 44 innovation projects which have been submitted to C3-Saxony, of which 22 received an innovation voucher and have been further incubated to grow.
