Furniture for General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Covasna
The activity of the PRO WOOD Regional Wood Cluster is not limited only to economic activities, but it is desired as cluster to bring together the entrepreneurial environment, educational and social institutions. The best example to highlight this aspect is the cooperation between HS Timber Group, Covasna County Council and the Technological High School “Puskás Tivadar” and PRO WOOD Cluster. The HS Timber Group timber factory from Reci (Covasna County) and Comănești (Bacău County) offered a significant amount of solid wood panels for furniture, worth RON 75,825.68 to the PRO WOOD cluster with the aim to use this materials for social purposes in Covasna County.
From the received materials, the designers of the PRO WOOD cluster designed different furniture pieces, and these were manufactured - under the guidance of the representatives of the member companies of the cluster, - by the students of the Technological High School “Puskás Tivadar” in Sfantu Gheorghe.
The produced furniture was offered to the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection in Covasna County, subordinated institute of Covasna County Council, for the replacement of furniture in family-type houses, care centers for people with disabilities, respectively homes for the elderly, subordinated to DGASPC Covasna. The first phase of this project was just finished before the Christmas time in 2017 but the involved parties agreed upon continuing this cooperation in the future.
This multiple partnership aimed a training and manufacturing session for students from the vocational school, respectively by equipping the social institutions of Covasna County with new furniture. Students were offered an unique opportunity to gain knowledge in collaboration with entrepreneurs, who through their experience, contributed on the improvement of the quality of the vocational training.

Further information
The Pro Wood Cluster has initiated the meeting of clusters and associations from the wood sector, in the Centru region, Romania. The aim of this meeting was to discuss about the commonly encountered problems in the wood processing sector. This meeting was very important because the wood industry from the Centru region is facing some major changes because of some foreign investments in the region. A consortium of associations and clusters was established, thanks to the initiative of the Pro Wood Cluster, in order to develop this sector. The creation of the whole value chain was considered to be important, from the forest owner, till the producer and seller. This value chain could contribute in the implication of each actor from the wood industry, to create a middle- and long-term strategy. As a major impact of this activity, we want the establishment of a consultative comission on national level, which includes every cluster and association from the wood sector, from the country.

The amount of furniture was too huge for one company, so a consortium was created with companies interested in this work, in order to fulfil the order. The tender book contained also furnishing of teh rooms with bed clothes, curtains, etc., a collaboration has been set up with companies from the textile cluster from Sf. Gheorghe, the members provided the textile products specified in the tender book. In the cluster, the set up of common businesses among the cluster members has a great importance.
