Overview
About us
OPTITEC's mission on the regional/national level is to foster and promote activities of the photonics and imaging sectors in the south of France and to strengthen the synergies between its stakeholders (research, higher education and industry sectors).
On the European level OPTITEC fosters the participation of its members in various EU research and development programmes, notably in Horizon Europe. In order to enhance the visibility and competitiveness of its members it facilitates the interaction with the European partners.

OPTITEC is a key player in the development of companies, in terms of business activity and jobs in the field of photonics in French regions of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur & Occitanie:
Extending the range of services to SMEs, from R&D to market
OPTITEC is building up its range of actions for companies by playing a role at the core of their strategy of development, R&D, funding, intellectual property, international outreach, competencies, etc. The support may be on both an individual and collective basis, encouraging joint projects between SMEs in order to be collectively more competitive on national and international markets.
Enhancing the synergy between SMEs and major industrial groups
For SMEs, OPTITEC plays the role of interface with the major groups and outsourcers in the photonics sector and beyond, with the aim of building up technological and business partnerships.
Encouraging the transfer of technologies from academic research to SMEs
OPTITEC maintains its links with academic research, on the understanding that the high level of R&D in the Cluster’s SMEs is a key factor with regard to the markets of the future.
European office in Brussels
In 2014 OPTITEC consolidated its offer of services linked to European funding programmes by appointing a full-time representative in Brussels for the purpose of representation, intelligence gathering and providing support to its members in the framework of Horizon 2020 programme.
Adaptive Optics Platform PEMOA
PEMOA platform, whose main mission is to promote the technology of adaptive optics for new industrial applications, includes three systems dedicated to: - higher and continuing education courses; - ophthalmology; - power lasers.
Various agreements with with industry and academia were concluded in 2013 in order to foster promotion of the platform in their respective networks and to contribute to its dynamic by providing training courses and organizing events in the PACA region.

OPTITEC is currently coordinator of COSME Go International project EU KETs4Dual-Use 2.0.
Previously, OPTITEC coordinated FP7 project OASIS (Open the Access to Life Science Infrastructures for SMEs), Horizon2020 CSA project EPRISE (Empowering Photonics through Regional Innovation Strategies in Europe), COSME Go International project EU KETs4Dual-Use (European Key Enabling Technologies for Dual-Use Worldwide) and participated as a partner in FP7 project LightJumps: European photonics business development accelerator.
