Description
In recent years, cities and communities have been making advancements in data analytics and digital services.
There remains, however, a lack of integrated approach to improving the overall performance of a city through exploitation of the strengths of AI, cloud computing, advanced data analytics and increased computational power. To fill this gap, the concept of Local Digital Twins (LDT) has recently emerged as part of an all-encompassing strategy for Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities.
A stakeholder workshop on Urban Digital Twins, held in October 2020, presented a number of different case studies where LDT has been used. The forthcoming LDT Technology Workshop on 23 March at 14:30 CET aims to bring together technology providers, research and technology organisations, chief technology officers, and other interested actors.
The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness among digital technology providers and related organisations about the EU approach to Urban Digital Twins and discuss how to build European capacity to this end.
