Description

This year Canada is hosting the virtual World Circular Economy Forum 2021 (WCEF2021) from 13-15 September.

Co-organized by Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, the WCEF is an annual event that brings together international business leaders, policymakers, and experts to present circular economy solutions.

WCEF2021 is the first Forum hosted in North America and will focus on cross-cutting issues central to economic recovery, the circular transition and a net zero future.

In particular, the forum will cover the following topics:

  • Plastics: explore the game changers needed to advance a circular economy for plastics through an interactive debate-style format (Sept 13, 11:00 am EDT and 17:00 CEST)
  • SMEs: explore the challenges and opportunities for SMEs in bringing new circular technologies, business models and products to market (Sept 13, 3:30 pm EDT and 21:30 CEST)
  • Climate and Biodiversity: will focus on how the circular economy can help mitigate climate change and protect biodiversity (Sept 14, 9:30 am EDT and 15:30 CEST)
  • Natural Resources: focus on the unique opportunities for the natural resources sector (Sept 14, 12:30pm EDT and 18:30 CEST)

The third day of WCEF2021 on 15 September is dedicated to partner-led Accelerator Sessions addressing a range of topics including biodiversity, trade, finance, regional approaches, procurement and more.

WCEF2021 will also feature a virtual Expo Area to spotlight selected circular economy solutions and approaches from around the world, and offer opportunities to network.

Registration is free and now open for all. Holding the forum virtually provides a unique opportunity for wide participation.
