INDESCAT- Catalan Sports Cluster
INDESCAT-Catalan Sports Cluster
Overview
About us
INDESCAT is the Catalan Sports Industry Cluster, a private entity led by companies, which was born in 2010 as a result of a strategic analysis on the Catalan sports sector driven by the "Sports General Secretary" of the Catalan Autonomous Government. The cluster’s mission is to bring together companies and research centres related to the world of sport, with the main objective of developing actions that improve companies’ competitiveness, encouraging the development of innovative products and services. INDESCAT means "Industry + Sport + Catalonia". INDESCAT has 87 members, including 61 companies, 2 technological centres, 9 knowledge centres, 4 municipalities and 13 sports organizations. The companies’ total turnover is over 1,500 million €, with more than 50% of exports.
Our Action Plan is structured into 6 strategic areas: Innovation, internationalisation, talent, entrepreneurship, visibility and networking. The main tool for their development is the organisation of work groups where different issues are raised and tackled. From a first cross-sectoral work group, with many stakeholders and a wide topic, different more specific work groups are born with less attendees. The final aim is to foster specific projects with clear leaderships. Some of the work groups carried out are still alive, such as the ones linked to sports tourism, nutrition, childhood, digital technologies, energy efficiency (EFISport), innovation, health, active ageing, mountain sports, cycling, water sports, events, growth and development of new businesses, etc. The main INDESCAT's value lies on its members, their participation and attitude towards work groups, meetings and the projects that are raised, which shape, step by step, a "cluster culture".
