Overview

About us

The Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) arises due to the current situation of the mining sector, particularly in the province of León and the region of Castilla y León (Spain); which affects the entire value chain and the social acceptance.

ISMC brings together leading companies in the extraction of mining resources and raw materials, engineering, training, transportation, associated services and commercialisation. In addition, it covers a wide range of raw materials and critical raw materials.

ISMC currently comprises 60 regional, national and international companies that join efforts to consolidate the strengths of the mining sector and its associated services and promote sustained economic growth, giving priority and special attention to SMEs.

The development of a low environmental impact, sustainable mining for the XXI century will occur through improvement and integration of new methods, techniques and processes that allow the use and valorisation of raw materials and their by-products, always according to the values of sustainability and circular economy. Companies taking part of ISMC fulfil all of them covering the whole mining value chain.

Objectives:

  • Energize and boost the mining sector and its associated services
  • Promote growth and competitiveness.
  • Promote cooperation amongst its members
  • Attract business and commercial opportunities
  • Promote technological innovation in the field of R+D+i

  • INNOBASE

[This action is developed within the framework of the call for grants for 2021 aimed at improving business competitiveness through support for Innovative Business Groups (AAEEII) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Junta de Castilla y León, co-financed with FEDER funds contributing to Objective OT3 “TO ACHIEVE A MORE COMPETITIVE BUSINESS FABRIC” of the FEDER Operational Program of Castilla y León]

The INNOBASE project consists of carrying out a technical feasibility study of the different accessible databases in Castilla y León. INNOBASE will make it possible to make visible the potential and capacities of R&D&I in the extractive industry of Castilla y León, analyzing its potential for adaptation and integration with the Community KETs and improving cooperation and business competitiveness in the value chain of the raw materials. INNOBASE will also serve to establish a baseline that will help the sector and AEI members to strengthen their long-term resilience and sustainability. To do this, INNOBASE will carry out a strategic analysis and propose future lines of action and recommendations regarding research, innovation and financing.
