HBio was established in 2006 by a small number of industry partners and research institutes. As an independent not for profit industry association, we have actively reached out to the life science community, and have profited from the strong growth of the sector in the past 14 years.

Today, we count more members and represent the life science network economy in its broadest sense, including our core R&D focused life sciences companies, Universities and research institutes and professional service providers, not only in Greece but around the globe.

Activities and Services

HBio has an in-house network with in-depth technical and business knowledge in the life sciences and offers support and guidance to companies and research institutes. By having a clear roadmap and strategy-defining processes, HBio adds value to the partners by supporting the development of competencies and the transfer of knowledge contributing to their better global competition positioning.

  • Business Development

HBio actively seeks and supports business development opportunities between partners and national and international stakeholders by holding a series of annual events (i.e. technology scouting, innovation matching, cross-clustering activities), by organizing business missions tailored to partner needs and by participating in major events around the globe (i.e. B2B meetings, conferences, forums).

  • Capacity Building

HBio provides technical and advisory services to partners including for the development of commercialization pathways (i.e. joint ventures, spin offs, licensing and research for equity), for digital awareness building and mindset shift. HBio has established career development mentoring and training programmes, as well as mobility programmes between industry and academia in order to add new skillsets to the bioscience workforce.

  • Policy Making

HBio is an active member of EU bodies advocating for bioscience and innovation such as the Council of European Bioregions, the European Cluster Collaboration Platform and EuropaBio. By this active involvement in decision-making consortia, HBio ensures global best practice governance and contributes to the creation of a coherent and positive innovation climate for the bioindustry in Europe.
