Achievements

1. GSC is a member of the ESCPi NATUREEF - an international strategic cluster partnership in the field Natural Resource Efficiency, consisted of 9 EU clusters, including 1200+ SMEs. The main aim of the partnership is

  • to foster innovative NATUREEF solutions via cluster cooperation; and
  • to improve the networking of research and development organizations and their cooperation with third countries actors.

2.  In 2019, GSC was awarded as an innovative cluster with a project building a multi-stakeholder approach to establish locally available Waste biomass to (biogas) energy power plant.

3. In 2020, GSC joined the BBI Ambassador programme with the aim to:

  • share information and promote bio-based opportunities to Bulgarian companies;
  • help with the development of the Bioeconomy in Bulgaria.

4. GSC is a member of the Smart City H2020 project Making City, working for energy system transformation towards smart and low-carbon cities, based on the Positive Energy District concept. The PED concept is tested and validated in the city of Vidin, following the two Lighthouse cities defined in the project. The project is about to bring major structural, societal, economical and technological changes in the city.

Name & description

  • Sustainable development of Green Synergy Cluster (National R&D project for innovative clusters (OP Innovation & Competitiveness 2020-2022) – Realisation of R&D infrastructure for waste to energy community driven approach. The project envisaged the implementation of R&D infrastructure for waste to energy community driven approach, as well as internalization of cluster members in third countries.
  • MAKING-CITY - the project involves 2 “lighthouse cities”, Groningen and Oulu, for the demonstration of their ambitious energy objectives. Both cities have been chosen due to their current work and commitment on energy transition, and the work with them will help others, our 6 “follower cities”: León (Spain), Bassano del Grappa (Italy), Kadiköy (Turkey), Poprad (Slovakia), Vidin (Bulgaria) and Lublin (Poland), to replicate the solutions proposed. The consortium is completed by representing key stakeholders within the value chain of smart cities: leading European research/academic institutions, large industries, SMEs, public bodies and specific exploitation expert partners.MAKING CITY will focus on achieving evidences about the actual potential of the PED approach. This approach will be the basis of high efficient and sustainable plan and will be used to implement anenergy efficient pathway for the city transformation. In a context of the COP 24 and the 2015 Paris Agreement, MAKING CITY will provide a long-term vision (the “City Vision 2050”) making a considering change in the cities’ energy systems and organisational structure.  The project will develop advanced procedures and methodologies based on the PED defined as SET Plan does: “A Positive Energy District is a district with annual net zero energy import and net zero CO2 emissions, working towards an annual local surplus production of renewable energy”.
  • Development of a competence center (OP Science and Smart Growth) (2018-2023) - Smart University Campus – Technical University of Plovdiv – An associated partner with the roll of facilitating smart buildings project on installing rooftop PVs, alongside EV charging station coupled with PVs and BESS (battery energy storage system) and smart metering devices.
  • Development of an online resource to train enterprises with the final objective to foster them into Environmental Technology Verification - ETV4INNOVATION - ETV4INNOVATION is 28 months long EC funded VET Strategic Partnership project under Erasmus+ programme. It has been designed with the aim to support the development and the implementation of an innovative practice and a new training path in the field of Environmental Technology Verification (ETV). There is a very strong demand from buyers of innovative eco-technologies for performance guarantees. The Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) statement offers the only internationally accepted guarantee of performance for any eco-technology. As the new ISO 14034:2016 standard, ETV can provide eco-technology developers with a real competitive edge for marketing their products. As the ETV verification statement offers guarantees of the performance of eco-technologies, the process of obtaining ETV verification statements follows very strict guidelines and procedures. To obtain such statements rapidly and at the lowest cost, companies must meet the level of requirements of the ETV verification process at all phases of product development.
  • TRACE-KEI - TRAns-national Collaboration Empowering Key European Industries - TRACE-KEI aims at strengthening the cluster management, in terms of defining medium-long term development strategy and improve the quality of services offered to their associate SMEs. In fact, through project activities (i.e. joint training and study visits), cluster managers will be provided with the necessary skills and tools to strengthen the aspects related to clusters management. As for strategy development, cluster managers will get more familiar with analysis of value chains and market foresight, in terms of future development trends and matching with associates and SMEs expectations.
  • Cluster Go International - NATUREEF ESCPi - The scope of NATUREEF European Strategic Cluster Partnership is design and implement a joint strategy promoting cross-sectoral cooperation and facilitating the internationalization of small and medium companies (SMEs) through SMEs mentoring and through the dissemination of their innovative technologies considering a new Natural Efficient Resource Concept.
