Description

Andalusia / Spain - This is a HYBRID event that will take place IN-PERSON and VIRTUALLY

The pilot edition of the new ECCP series of events “Clusters meet regions.”

In the frame of the Foro Transfiere, 16 – 17 February 2022, Malaga

Aligned with the European Industrial Strategy, EU regions need to be able to compete in the fast changing economic and social environment, in particular in the post-Covid-19 recovery period. Clusters are skillful in shaping both the local and regional economy with a favourable administrative and regulatory environment. Therefore, regional authorities need to be aware about the capacities that clusters have to effectively help in the design and the implementation of the regional development policies. What really matters is the involvement of clusters in regional economic governance, in policy design and implementation at regional level. Furthermore, collaboration with other European clusters will boost regional assets and reinforce capacities to lead green transition, accelerate digital transition and build resilience.

To this aim, the European Cluster Collaboration Platform, in collaboration with the region of Andalusia, organised the “Clusters meet Regions” in Malaga (16th & 17th February) is the first one event that welcomes a series of 15 regional workshops, over the 2 years, in selected EU regions, which express their interest to host the events in 2022-23 as part of the “Clusters meet Regions” cycle. This edition was structured along the priorities established by the Region of Andalusia and the European Industrial Strategy as updated in May 2021, covering topics such as transition pathways and strategy dependencies the event also looked at cross-border and cross-sectoral cooperation. The agenda included items such as participant pitches (5'-10' minutes), which consisted of the presentation of concrete cooperation proposals or general profiles of relevant organisations. It was an opportunity to promote the cooperation between clusters and regional actors, and to work on strengthening the industrial ecosystem of a selected host region.
