About us

Founded in octomber 2012, Cluj IT is an innovation based value chain network of Romanian IT companies and related organizations with the purpose of increasing the competitiveness and growth of IT services and products on international markets and of forging a strong sustainable public – private partnership in order to improve the life quality of the community we are part of. Cluj IT Cluster also strives towards the enhancement of innovation capabilities of our members, in particular, and of the Romanian IT industry in general. Our focus is on:

• Creating a collaborative culture based on trust and reliability • Fostering entrepreneurship

• Promoting Romanian IT solutions and services abroad and become known as a centre of excellence in IT

• Forging strong and long lasting partnerships for the mutual benefit of our members and society in general

• Support and create opportunities for Cluj IT members to work on large international projects.

Until the end of 2017 Cluj IT Cluster envisions becoming one of the most credible suppliers from Central and Eastern Europe for innovative IT services and products as well as of organizational support systems, with the majority of its members able to be competitive on national and international markets. Our challenge is to promote innovation in processes, design of products and services to increase competitiveness on international level, creation of a partnership culture based on trust and dependability, promotion of the Romanian IT market, founding lasting public-private partnerships for the mutual benefit of the cluster’s members and of the society in general.

Cluj IT Cluster’s success relies in the commitment that the companies, the universities and the local authorities (especially the Mayor’s Office) have invested in the initiative. This has materialized in the resources that each of these stakeholders have so far brought to table (from financial resources to infrastructure and equipment and know-how from other organizations). This, at its turn secures sustainability for our organization, while also bringing other stakeholders within or around our organization. One major achivement is the organization of Cluj Innovation Days. Cluj Innovation Days is an annual regional forum organized to consolidate the IT community and to facilitate the interaction with business partners as well as the public sector. Participants are usually more than 400, representatives from a wide range of sectors such as the Romanian Government and the local public institutions, members from the Academia, as well as delegates from foreign Embassies and international business networks, businesses and practioners. Traditionally, the event takes place over two days at the end of March, each year.
