CIC energiGUNE

Spain: Basque Country

Overview

CIC energiGUNE (http://www.cicenergigune.com/en) is a non-profit energy research centre based in the Basque Country (Spain), inaugurated in 2011. CIC energiGUNE's mission is to play a leading role on the international scientific stage focused on basic research in energy related materials oriented to storage applications, contributing to industrial competitiveness through: excellent and breakthrough research; transfer of technology and knowledge to industry; coordination of Basque technology and research efforts in energy storage field.

CIC energiGUNE plays an important role in the strong Basque Network of Science, Technology and Innovation (RVCTI). The centre has the backing of public institutions, administrations and of companies directly related to the energy sector. Its objectives are strongly aligned with the Basque Country RIS3 priorities and the Energibasque strategy, which identifies storage as the central key to solve the future energy needs.
