About us

The Austrian Centre of Industrial Biotechnology (acib) is both an international hub of industrial biotechnology and a non-profit, research institution with 200+ employees. More than 70 partners have joined the acib-consortium by signing an agreement (almost 60 companies + almost 20 scientific partners) and are promoting industrial biotechnoloy research by performing joint research projects within the Austrian COMET-funding framework (similar to a public-private-partnership). acib is a multidisciplinary centre with research in disciplines: such as Organic Chemistry/Biocatalysis, Molecular-, Structural-, and Cell Biology, (Bio)Process Engineering, Bioinformatics and Synthetic Biology. acib's Mission is to foster and promote R&D in the field of industrial biotechnology and to bridge the gap between exellent basic research and industrial applications.
