Name & description
Participation in Funded Support National Programme (02/SIAC/2015):
Internationalization Strategy of STONE.PT
StonePT is the result of a partnership between members of the Portuguese Cluster of Natural Stone with the purpose of demonstrating the conformity of Portuguese natural stone products with the requirements established in technical documents.
StonePT it’s part of the Collective Efficiency Strategy of Natural Stone Cluster, including the Anchor Project: Valuation of Natural Stone, approved under the COMPETE/SIAC.
The main mission of this Organization is promoting and show the credibility of its marks, in both national and international levels, as well as all the companies associated to it.
StonePT values are based on independence, technical rigor and credibility as a mean to ensure its impartiality and integrity as/when in contact with different relating entities, assuring the adequate management of conflicts of interest.
The Valorpedra is the responsible entity for the international promotion of STONE.PT.
The participation in the main international fairs, the advertising in important markets for Portuguese natural stone and the constant presence on the internet and social networks
The strategy is constituted by participation in various international fairs, advertising in countries destination Stone Natural Portuguese and constant presence on the Internet and social networks are the main initiatives.
This project is supported by Portugal 2020 funds.

European progammes:
H2020 - Call: H2020-INNOSUP-2018-2020 - Topic: INNOSUP-01-2018-2020 (IA) - Proposal acronym: MINE.THE.GAP (36 months)
Mineral raw materials in today’s society are important though largely ignored. In addition, the concept of mining is mostly viewed in a negative light, focussing on its use of non-modern, less environmentally friendly and even outdated methods and technologies. The EU-funded MINE.THE.GAP project aspires to provide a support platform for the reinforcement of existing value chains and the development of new industrial value chains in the raw materials and mining 'target' sectors by means of cross-sectoral and cross-regional innovation. It will also provide support services in cluster-related SMEs through synergies and interactions with providers and facilitators from the existing and emerging fields of ICT, circular economy, resource efficiency and advanced manufacturing.
ERAMIN 2- Topic: 3. Processing, Production and Remanufacturing - PROJECT TITLE - REVIVING – revisiting mine tailings to innovate metals biorecovery (36 months):
This project is focused on valuing mine tailings as resources, supplying metals that are extracted today via other processes, promoting recycling, minimizing the production of hazardous waste and thereby embracing a circular economy. The project uses knowledge obtained in the ERAMIN project BioCriticalMetals(ERAMIN/0002/2015) on the microbiome of tailings. The objective of the REVIVING project is to get improved models for efficiently recycling metals from residues in case-study mines. For the first time, this is based on autochthonous tailings microbiome manipulation to promote the bioleaching-bacterial populations and innovative hydrometallurgy. The project covers the entire cycle of obtaining metals, from secondary sources to a product to sell. At the same time, by enabling true tailings recycling and reduction of residues produced by mining, we reconnect raw materials to the society. In perspective, the tailings basins could be used as a productive system for the provision of marketable metals. The expected success of this work will result in the validation of a clean, economic and innovative bioprocess for metal recovery from wastes, which will return residues to the productive cycle, supporting the EU’s transition to a circular economy. The project will consist of several work steps, starting with small-scale assays performed in columns to test the potential of the manipulation of the tailings microbiome in leaching of Cu, Mn, Zn, Mo (non-critical major elements), W and Mg (critical metals) from tailings from Portuguese (Beralt Tin & Wolfram, Panasqueira) and Romanian (CUPRUMIN S.A. Abrud, CNCAF Minvest Deva) mines. REVIVING will innovate the bioleaching process enabling zero mine waste. The generated knowledge will push the EU to the front of the raw materials processing technologies and solutions. By recycling mine residues, soil areas will be returned to agriculture, forestry, and population, increasing mine social acceptance.
