The Basque Energy Board and the Basque Energy Cluster have organised the joint participation of Basque companies at the Ocean Energy Europe event, as Silver Sponsor, on 25 and 26 October, at Nantes, France. The stand under the brand “Wave Energy Basque Country” has been completed by the following companies and institutions: Bimep, Ditrel, EVE's plant in Mutriku, IH Cantabria, Tecnalia, Zumaia Offshore, and Zunibal.

The international event, Ocean Energy Europe (OEE), that has taken place in Nantes, brought together the main companies and institutions related to marine energy. The Basque companies at the exhibition area showcased their experience in the field of wave power by means of a joint stand. The Wave Energy Basque Country brand, which includes the major Basque companies and bodies in the wave power sector (or wave energy), has been represented at a joint 24 m² stand shared with 7 Basque companies and bodies: Bimep, Ditrel, EVE's Mutriku plant, IH Cantabria, Tecnalia, Zumaia Offshore, and Zunibal. 

Yago Torre-Enciso, BIMEP Director, participated at the conferences on marine power with a lecture that opened the last session of the event on the 25th of October. This lecture showcased the capacity of Basque companies and institutions that are included under the umbrella brand Wave Energy Basque Country. He made special mention of the main characteristics of BiMEP, the Marine Power Platform at Mutriku, the WEC installation by Oceantec, the ANTEIA buoys at Zunibal, and the development of the KONEKTA2 connection system by Ditrel.

In short, through the participation under the brand Wave Energy Basque Country, the most important Basque companies and bodies in the wave power sector have shown their capacities. These companies and institutions form part of a growing sector in the Basque Country that is committed to its technological and industrial development.

According to the declarations of the Executive Director of Ocean Energy Europe (OEE), Rémi Gruet, the marine energy sector is progressing towards industrialisation, despite the challenging political environment.
