Duration:
3 December 2019 / 3 June 2020

VIDA Challenges:
Resource-efficient food processing

Summary:
The main objective is to consult the certification of innovative nanofiber candle filters to extend their use in the field of ultrafiltration in the food industry production processes which is our principal motivation. Our nanotechnology is specific thanks to the effective integration of the nanofibrous layer directly on the yarn from which they are made, or into the structure. This innovation shifts their filtration capability by capturing particles in the range of 20-500 nm. These capabilities distinguish this solution from other filters available on the market. The nanotechnology could serve in wine-making to remove residues of substances harmful to human health, in distillate production to remove the finest solids forming opalescent haze, or in the fat industry to remove free fatty acid residues, industrial fertilizers and pesticides from food oils to obtain healthier products with improved organoleptic properties. All laboratory tests will be led by Institute for Testing and Certification Zlín (ITC Zlín), the knowledge supplier of this project.
