From value chains to value networks - Business models for the IoT

Submitted by Frank Boesenberg on 14 October 2016

In the framework of the H2020-funded project UNIFY-IoT, Silicon Saxony has actively contributed to the creation of an IoT Business Model Framework. It was presented this week in Vienna during a meeting of all projects from the IoT-EPI - the Internet of Things European Platform Initiative.

The IoT business models concepts and framework as presented in this document cover the identification and analysis of the logic of an IoT ecosystem (form by several companies), or an individual company, the way it operates and how it creates value for its stakeholders.  The base of the study is existing literature on business models as well as input from several Working Groups of The Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation (AIOTI). Silicon Saxony made the Internet of Things a key part of its strategy in 2014 and, beside other activities, runs a focus group which unites players such as Infineon, Bosch or T-Systems Multimedia Solutions.
