The Basque Country presented itself as a country with an industrial and technologically intensive energy sector at the conference which took place on 11 April at the Institute of Engineering in London. The UK is the fourth destination for exports from the Basque Country, behind Germany, France and the United States.

The Minister for Economic Development and Infrastructures of the Basque Government, Arantxa Tapia, opened the conference, organised along with the Financial Times. She highlighted some of the areas where the Basque energy industry is centred around, and those in which it excels due to the added value and knowledge it provides; the opening address particularly focussed on the wind industry, the digitalisation of electrical grids, electric mobility, and test platforms for marine energy.

A round table session was held later on with several key entities in the British energy sector, where Basque countries were able to learn first hand about the strategies and business opportunities that their counterparts are working on in the UK. The day ended with a networking session where Basque and British representatives exchanged ideas and started to foster new business relationships.
