The Danish cluster of food and Catalan SMEs of nutrition, health and packaging, participated in the meeting

The first session of the “Food & Packaging International Workshop”, framed in the Innovation Express program of the BSR (Baltic Sea Region), took place on 21-22 in Barcelona and was organized by the Catalan clusters nutrition and health (AINS) and the Packaging Cluster and the food danish cluster (FoodNetwork).

The session, which had a day and a half duration (see program), began at ACCIÓ with the presentation by Mr. Alberto Pezzi, Director of the Cluster Unit, welcoming all participants, who surpassed the fortnight of members.

Next, Mr. Oriol Izquierdo, of Cluster Development, approached the packaging situation at local and global level, showing the main trends detected. In the morning, we had the presentations by the three clusters involved in the session, explaining the actions related to the topics that will work the project, such as Food Safety, Sustainability, Fresh Fish Packaging; And active and intelligent packaging, and finally, the participants presented their company in front of all the assistants, in order to introduce their activity.

Finally, we visited members of the Catalan clusters, such as Casa Ametller, to learn about innovation in the field of food distribution; The Science Park of Barcelona, ​​which exposed the model of operation of technology transfer of the territory; As well as the visit to Hewlett-Packard, who showed the printing technologies available for packaging, as well as in the field of 3D printing.

On the second day, Graphispag was used to visit the showroom that had the fair enabled, showing the different innovations in available printing technologies. Likewise, the project participants also visited the companies of the clusters of the packaging exhibitors in the fair, to be able to know the innovations in the flexographic printing, by part of Comexi, and of the intelligent packaging, by Packintube.

The next session of the project will be held on 19-20 September in Malmö, Sweden, taking advantage of the Top Packaging Summit organized by Packbridge, where the SMEs Packaging Cluster members HamerIndustrial Sagarra and Decapulp will participate, among others.
