Silicon Saxony at the EU-Taiwan Event on Industry of the Future

As partner of the Silicon Europe Worldwide project, Silicon Saxony was directly involved in the organization of the bilateral EU-Taiwan Event on Industry of the Future especially with regard to the Smart Manufacturing seminar held June 27 2017.

From June 26 to 27, the European Commission, the European Cluster Collaboration Platform and Silicon Europe Worldwide jointly organized the EU-Taiwan Event on Industry of the Future in Brussels. The Taiwanese delegation comprised more than 100 people including represantatives from government, industry associations, major research institutes and universities as well as large enterprises and SMEs.The European side was represented by the same variety and number of people.

Silicon Saxony was represented by Nadja Dehne, Head of International Affairs at the cluster management. During the C2C-Meetings on the first day of the event, she talked to several potential Taiwanese cooperation partners including TAIROA (Taiwan Automation Intelligence and Robotics Association), ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) and MIRDC (Metals Industry Research and Development Center) amongst others. On June 27, three different seminars were held on Circular Economy, 5G and Smart Manufacturing. In the latter, two members of Silicon Saxony were present talking about robotics and IoT. Heinz Martin Esser, CEO of the SME Fabmatics GmbH, presented robotic technologies for semiconductor fabs and Christoph Kögler, Head of Innovation at T-Systems Multimedia Solutions, spoke about the planned Smart Systems Hub in Dresden intensively promoting the location in front of the Taiwanese delegation.
