  • The Packaging Cluster organises the PackagingNET, face-to-face sessions with exceptional guests with the aim of promoting networking and knowledge sharing between managers and entrepreneurs in the packaging sector
  • On 17 May, the second meeting was held at the Hotel Qgat with the special invitation of Mrs. Núria Basi i Moré
  • Event sponsored by the Caixa d'Enginyers, a cooperative entity with more than 55 years of history.

On May 17th, the second business meeting organised by the Packaging Cluster took place, which brought together more than 20 representatives of the packaging sector at the Hotel Qgat in Sant Cugat del Vallès, within the framework of the second PackagingNET.

On this occasion, Mr. Jaime Asián, director of Corporate Banking of Caixa d'Enginyers welcomed the participants and then Martina Font Olivé - president of the Packaging Cluster, Corporate Director of Font Packaging Group and CEO of Kartox - had a conversation with Mrs. Nuria Basi i Moré, current president of Basi-Group, a family business dedicated to the fashion industry, where textile pieces are distributed in a network of own shops and franchises, multi-brand shops and department stores in Spain and abroad.

The president of Basi-Group, graduated in biology and researcher for twenty years in the pharmaceutical sector, explained in a very generous and transparent way her professional career since she has been the president of the family business for two decades, and already as a child she felt the illusion that her parents had for the company. At the head of the company, she has managed the transformation of the company, such as the sale of distribution to Lacoste, as well as the management of licenses and marketing of different brands through off and on-line channels.

Nuria also highlighted life experiences, anecdotes, successes and failures about the business culture and the Base philosophy: "effort, honesty, taking care of people, responsibility and the quality of our products and innovation and creativity are values that my grandmother implemented". Basi affirmed that "On a business and personal level, you have to make decisions and make mistakes before you don't make them" and encouraged the public to be brave and to make difficult decisions in time, even if they make you uncomfortable. In this way, one can take control of the situation and prevent the situation from getting even worse.

Nuria reminded us that life is unpredictable, so we have to be prepared for the good times as well as the bad. "Have a plan to face the difficult moments, be willing to change and be open to the opportunities that come our way and know how to make the most of them".

After the reflections of the president of Basi Group, the attendees shared coffee and contacts with the other participants Capsa, Rafesa, Carinsa, the Technological Centre Leitat, DS Smith, Eurecat, Imes 3D, Inka Palet, Proflexo, Grafopack, Aktiva or FI Group.

Collaboration agreement between the Caixa d'Enginyers and the Packaging Cluster

Finally, the day concluded with the signing of the collaboration agreement between the President of the entity, Martina Font, and Mr. Jaime Asian, from Caixa d'Enginyers. On 23 February, the financial and insurance cooperative group, Caixa d'Enginyers, which last year celebrated its 55th anniversary, signed a collaboration agreement with the Packaging Cluster Association, a benchmark entity in the packaging sector, by virtue of which the credit cooperative will become a collaborator of the Packaging Cluster through the sponsorship of the PackagingNET sessions. These are conferences organised by the Packaging Cluster that were created in 2023 with the ultimate objective that its 130 associated companies and entities can connect with the packaging ecosystem and the main representatives of complementary industries.

The cooperative entity model of Caixa d'Enginyers is part of the social economy, where the members are at the centre. In its commitment to providing a quality service and generating shared value beyond the financial component, with a positive impact on the planet and society, Caixa d'Enginyers will provide the members of the cluster with a business manager who will offer personalised advice that will support the economic viability of the operations and will analyse applications to offer financing that is appropriate to their structure.
